Global group for anyone who has done ANY or ALL of the following:
You've (not) gotten sick eating Yangrou Chuanr- tasty street meat so cheap you can't afford NOT to eat it.
You've drunk beer from a plastic bag. With or without the straw.
You've munched on scorpion on a stick.
You've known the torment of a Language Pledge.
You've drunk a bottle of Er Guo Tou in the middle of the day, and NOT thrown up.
You know the difference between 1. Propaganda, and 2. propaganda.
You've received a death threat from a Chinese gangster.
You've climbed the Great Wall.
a. more than once. b. more than five times. c. so many times the vendors don't even bother yelling at you to buy Great Wall T-Shirts or fluffy hats anymore, or to ride their camel. You've gotten your censored news from the legendary Tom Santoro.
You've had to chase away those guys that stick business cards of prostitutes in the doors of every apartment.
You've danced on the speakers at Vic's.
You have taken a piss, received a back rub, and ashed your cigarette on the ash tray conveniently placed on top of the urinal -- all at the same time.
You've had your bicycle stolen. Twice. And you bought back the same bike both times from the same bike shop. Hm...
You've defended one of those little girls that sell flowers on the streets at night from a pack of drunken foreigners.
You've hooked up with (at least) one of your conversation partners.
You've noticed that the beggars in Wudaokou all carry around the same begging bowl, and actually live in the same apartment compound as you.
You've had to pay your full semester's rent in a very thick wad of $12.50 bills because the Bank of China doesn't print currency in higher amounts.
You've been in a cab that hopped the curb, drove up on the sidewalk, and ran a cyclist off the sidewalk just to avoid waiting at a red light.
You add "R"s to the end of words indiscriminately and do not move your jaw when you speak.
You've seen the guy at the BLCU gym who works out without his shirt on.
You have tried with great difficulty to explain to your friends about how awesome chocolate waffle fishes are.
You've drunk any of the following epic concoctions:
a. Green Tea and Whiskey b. Green Grape Juice and Vodka c. Qoo and Korean Soju (when you were in Wudaokou) d. Sprite and Red Wine (when you were tricked into karaoke with old ladies). You get nostalgic about some version of Sanlitunr that doesn't exist anymore.
You’ve bargained with an old Chinese lady at Xiushui or Hongqiao:
a. while the foreigner next to you bargained in English and ended up buying the same item for five times the price. b. until the lady told you, "You make me want to kill myself." And you responded NO, she makes YOU want to kill YOURSELF. This continued back and forth until you reached the standard 1/5 original price, at which point you both laughed, completed the exchange, and she waved and invited you to come back soon. And you did the same thing at the next six stalls. c. until she bought YOUR fake North Face jacket. You’ve managed to actually find Li Qun Duck House.
You've started watching entire seasons of shows you never liked, because you now own them on DVD.
Upon leaving China, you persist in bargaining at inappropriate places in your home country (Train station, haircut, Chipotle Mexican Grill).
You think ass-less pants are cute.

Cipriani Hong Kong
